Cannon Hall Museum houses the Regimental Museum of the 13th/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary’s Own) and the Light Dragoons. This museum is of great interest to those who study military history.
It includes displays on the part the Regiment played in famous battles including the Charge of the Light Brigade.
The main part of Cannon Hall Museum houses a grand collection of artworks including paintings, English furniture, Arts and Crafts ceramics and modern glassware.
The Hall opened as a museum in 1957 and continues to display the exhibits to the public to this day. Recent funding from the Heritage Lottery fund helped refurbish the displays and update them for the modern age.
The Friends of Cannon Hall recently purchased a new piece of Moorcroft pottery called “Sweet Harmony” by Rachel Bishop to add to the Museum’s collection. This was the first major addition to the collections for many years.
